WCHC Jumper Schooling Jumper Show Rules and Regulations
1. The WCHC, its officers and members, are not responsible for any damage, injury or loss of property as a result of activities conducted in relationship to this show.
2. Proof of current (within past 12 months) negative Coggins required at registration.
3. No alcoholic drinks allowed.
4. Due to the potential for injury in a jumping show, individuals under the age of 18 must have a responsible parent/guardian present during the show.
5. Any horse/rider team entered in the prepuddle Jumper division may not enter other divisions.
6. All individuals are required to wear ASTM/SEI riding helmet properly secured whenever mounted.
7. Schooling of the complete posted courses are allowed but must take place before 5:00 when the show starts. Additional schooling over jumps set up in the tractor pull area may take place at any point during the show.
8. Prior to the first class a horse/rider team is entered in, a schooling warm-up will be allowed. This warm up will consist of attempting each jump on the course from one direction. If a horse refuses any jump more than three times, the jump height will be lowered and the trainer may enter the ring to help the rider get the horse over that jump.
9. A bell will be sounded to signal the beginning of a ride. Rider must begin the course within 45 seconds of the bell or be eliminated. Once the bell has sounded, coaching from outside the ring is not allowed.
10. Speed classes will be placed according to the official time.
11. Power and Speed classes will be placed according to the official time on the speed portion of the course.
12. A penalty of 4 seconds will be added for each knockdown or disobedience.
13. Off course in any class or three disobediences will result in disqualification from the class. In the event that a horse exhibits three disobediences, the rider will be asked to wait while the jump the horse is attempting is lowered. The trainer will then be asked to enter the ring to help the rider across that jump after which the horse and rider will be dismissed.
14. Please consider both horse and rider ability when determining appropriate classes. Likewise, please be considerate of the horse’s stamina when determining the number of classes to be entered. Any horse or rider exhibiting dangerous behavior will be dismissed.
15. As a schooling show, good sportsmanship is of the utmost importance. Spectators and coaches should limit themselves to cheering and encouragement from the ring. Any unsportsmanship-like conduct will result in being asked to leave the show.
16. USEF rules will be applied to any other situations.
